Tentative Agreement Reached With Anchor Store for Downtown Redevelopment Project
New Port Richey, FL (March 27, 2017) – Owners of 5800 Main, LLC announced today that they have reached a tentative lease agreement with Wright’s Natural Market to become the downtown project’s anchor tenant. The deal is for approximately ⅓ of a 9500+ square foot building on Main Street, originally built in the 1950s as Potter’s IGA grocery store.
Wright’s Natural Market (formerly Wright’s Nutrients) has been a New Port Richey institution for 23 years. Owners Jeff and Kathy Wright have determined that the positive revitalization and growth in New Port Richey downtown have made it the right time to move from their current location on US 19. “The growing interest in urban farming, local products, community and the walkability of downtown are perfect for our store. ” says owner Jeff Wright.
This move reflects the large and growing interest in walkable cities and towns like New Port Richey. These places combine retail, restaurants, residences, recreation and workplaces in walkable proximity to each other and offer a convenient and enjoyable lifestyle. Like many other pre-War towns in the Tampa Bay region New Port Richey is enjoying a renewed interest in its downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. “A great grocery store on Main Street will make Downtown New Port Richey an ‘everyday’ place again,” says Frank Starkey, co-owner of 5800 Main. “That will attract people to other businesses nearby.”
The building, which has been renamed 5800 Main, is one of the largest buildings in downtown and presents a significant opportunity to revitalize downtown retail. 5800 Main, LLC purchased the building last year for $400,000 and is investing a similar amount in a major renovation to bring it up to current codes and standards for modern business needs. The owners anticipate the renovations will be complete in the Fall of this year.
With over 100 feet of frontage on Main Street, 5800 Main presents an opportunity to make an important positive visual impact on the town. Although it has previously housed only a single business, the building will now be divided among 3-5 different tenants, each with a distinct storefront design and entrance. “Design wise, we are going for a fresh, clean and current look that will update our entire block.” says Jose Cardenas, co-owner of 5800 Main. “We want to post on the windows our new facade renderings to share some of the excitement while we complete the renovation. The use of natural and raw construction materials will help us achieve the new look we are going for ”
While there are still several steps needed to finalize the arrangement, The 5800 Main LLC and Wright’s Natural Market have come to an agreement on lease terms and are delighted to be moving forward. Other interested prospective tenants should contact Jose Cardenas, who is acting as the Leasing Agent, at 281-827-0223.
