Enjoy a family outing while celebrating the holiday spirit. Thanks to El Niño we can expect a warm (hopefully not too humid) holiday season here in Pasco County. As always, there are plenty of options for family fun for everyone.
A great example of the sparkle in the sand is the Wilderness Wonderland event held annually at J. B. Starkey Wilderness Park. Drive through the pristine park under the sprawling oak trees and through a Christmas Village sporting a North Pole look while enjoying the Florida climate.
Event Date: December 8 – 11 and 15 – 18 Time: 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Cost: $2 per car
In true Florida fashion, a flotilla of boats adorned with Christmas lights and decorations parades down the Pithlachascotee River. People line the banks and cheer for their favorite entry in the Annual River Lights Boat Parade, while Christmas music drifts across the backyards, parks and roads adjacent to the winding river.
Event Date: December 3 Time: 6:00 p.m. Cost: Free
Central Pasco and Gulf Railroad located in Crews Lake Park offers the annual Christmas Train Ride to Santa’s North Pole. Ride this scale railroad through the scenic park, hop off the train at Santa’s cabin to meet and take pictures with Santa Claus.
Event Date: November 26 – 27, December 10 – 11 and 17 – 18 Time: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Cost: $6 per person
Another favorite is the Annual Christmas Stroll in Dade City, where the houses, some more than 100 years old, are decorated for the holidays, businesses sell Christmas crafts, offer holiday treats and visitors are serenaded by roving carolers.
Shoppers always love the opportunity to ice skate under the Florida sun at the Shops of Wiregrass.
Ice-skating- Event Date: Nov. 11 – Jan. 1 Time: Mall Hours Cost: $10 per 30 minutes
Happy Holidays from all of us at Pasco County Tourism.
