One of the most satisfying benefits of living in Florida is having the opportunity to experience casual dining at its finest on the water, with freshly prepared cuisine, or any of your favorite dishes, paired with a craft beer and a picturesque view. When an establishment throws in amenities like a dog-friendly tiki bar, trivia nights, live music, and sangria sunset cruises, just to name a few, you know you’ve struck gold in Pasco County! Gill Dawg provides all of these options and so much more!
Owner Erik Suojanen said, “(Gill Dawg) is an ‘Eco-Establishment’, a positive vibe garden venue which was needed in the area. It is a compilation of many ideas from many people. It’s simply a fun dining experience!”
Erik, a Michigan native transplanted to New Port Richey 30 years ago, is by trade, a plumber contractor and a businessman. He established his first plumbing business, Plumbers of Suojanen in 1990, and Pampering Plumber in 2007. His wife of 27 years, Colleen, has the restaurant and food & beverage background. Together, they are a dynamic duo creating exactly what guests want, and what their visitors describe as “amazing”, “extraordinary”, and “relaxing”.
Visit Gill Dawg and experience for yourself the fantastic food, like their fish or shrimp tacos, which Erik considers the “best you can find anywhere.” Not into seafood? Maybe the blackened chicken sandwich is more up your alley. Whatever your palate craves, you will find it delicious here and they are currently introducing new dishes.
Thanks to the fabulous Florida climate, all seating is outdoors, so no one’s view of the beautiful Cottee River is obstructed. This slice of heaven on the west coast of Pasco sits on 3.5 acres, and includes its own park used for special events and fundraisers.
Gill Dawg is the perfect location for birthday parties, fundraisers, business meetings, weddings, and corporate gatherings. A 33,000+ square-foot event arena features a repurposed sailboat that has been transformed into a vast stage for musical performances and professional presentations.
There is much to see and do at Gill Dawg that allows guests to appreciate the beauty of the Gulf, the mangroves and the nature that comprises our community. Fishing excursions, paddle boarding, kayaking, meditation and yoga on the water (or not), there are numerous opportunities to enjoy our little slice of heaven, right here in Pasco County!
Erik, Colleen and staff invite you to (across from Hooters), where the Cottee River meets the Gulf of Mexico.
