Good Food, Good Friends, Good Times! That’s the familiar slogan put in place by Scott Cochrane, owner of Lonzalo’s Pizzeria and Ristorante in Longleaf.
Scott opened Lonzalo’s on Valentine’s Day 2009. His love of all foods Italian was translated into a lovely Italian bistro, perfectly suited for families and friends to gather for fun and fellowship over flavorful cuisine!
“My favorite things about this community are the people I’ve met and the good friends I have made through the restaurant,” Scott confessed.
You might picture the namesake of this fine Italian restaurant, Lonzalo, as a robust Italian chef tossing rounds of pizza dough in the air repeatedly, with a twinkle in his eye and smile on his face. Rather, Lonzalo’s was actually named for a former local ranch foreman named Lonnie Lonzalo Cannon. He was a long-time ranch hand for JB Starkey, Sr., and JB Starkey, Jr. Today, he is 95 years old and resides in northern Florida.
The local connection is very important to Scott, who insists on buying quality food products from local suppliers. “We buy from local food distributors, mainly American Foods. Our suppliers are chosen by quality first, then by price. We do not sacrifice quality over cost at Lonzalo’s,” he explains.
Using these quality ingredients, every succulent Italian preparation is made fresh every day! You can find all of the family favorites on the Lonzalo’s menu: salads, pastas, specialties, and of course, pizza! They serve up an incredibly thin crust cheese pizza, their favorite dish to prepare. However, if you prefer a hand-tossed crust or a deep dish loaded with your fave usual suspects, there’s no better choice than Lonzalo’s!
Although the super thin crust cheese pie is his favorite to prepare, the dish he considers their most delicious creation is the “Zuppa Di Pesce”, a succulent seafood medley of shrimp, scallops, scungilli, mussels and clams, sautéed to perfection in your choice of a garlic white wine sauce or home-style marinara.
Scott and his talented staff proudly present “Brain Teaser Trivia” on Tuesday nights at Lonzalo’s, beginning at 7:00. It’s family-friendly and free to enter, with the top three teams walking away with cash prizes!
Feel like belting out a classic? You are invited to join host Allen “Hudson” Brady for “Hump Day Karaoke”, Wednesdays at 8:00 PM.
If you are planning a graduation party, a family reunion, or practically any event this summer, Lonzalo’s is quickly becoming the go-to caterer in West Pasco County. Call Scott and his catering team to discuss the numerous options available to meet your needs and exceed your expectations! He and his staff will happily work with you on the menu of your choice, be it Italian or not.
Scott welcomes families to his restaurant in true Italian style, to enjoy delicious, quality food, superior service and a fun, casual atmosphere. His goal is simple: “We want our guests to feel they received courteous, prompt service and the best quality food, all while having a good time.”
Good Food, Good Friends, Good Times! Love Lonzalo’s!
